That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. What happened to Nelly Furtado? Didn’t she used to be an advocate for positive female role-models? I mean, a song about being a slut isn’t quite in the mold she created. I would gauge this as a sell out if she hadn’t already sold out to Pepsi five years ago.

Im lovin this tune but i agree with some of you’s when u say its not really Nelly’s style. You can just tell this is Timberlands work not hers and her own style is whats made her unique and succesful.

What the f*$% happened to Nelly? It seems she has completely lost her identity, and for what, more cash and publicity? Great, another sell out by a singer I once had respect for. Her performance on SNL was sad, and her new music video is even sadder. I guess something like this is inevitable in today’s music industry. It’s good she lasted as long as she did. Umm, her last “folky” album didn’t sell well, so now she’s trying her hand at dance pop. She couldn’t have found a better collaborator than Timbaland, and she looked *hot* on SNL. You little girls looking for some Tori Amos-style rainbows and unicorns will just have to get over it when her album goes double platinum. I always laugh when somebody accuses a pop singer of selling out!

So sad. Her SNL “performances” were awful. I agree with everyone who commented that she can’t dance. She is trying to imitate Fergie and Shakira but falls really short. Her voice is not suited to the kind of rap/hip hop she’s trying to do. All around bad choices for her. I hope her child never sees this phase of her “career”. Nelly, stop trying to be a teenager, it doesn’t work for you — You look terribly silly.

all you guys talking about how “she sold out/its not her style/what happened to her”, are straight up haters who miss the “im a sorry loser-and this makes me feel good-songs”…putting down the girl for trying a knew sound/beat. you don’t know her, and you’re not her best friend… for all you know this is a different style coming from a NF thats past all that bullshit and is looking into new things for herself, experimenting with her artistic license….or i could be wrong…in anycase the point is how could you know what her sound really is unless you ARE her….shes not one-dimensional..if you don’t like it change the station…but i doubt it…cuz you know the song is bangin’ and its a diff beat than whats out there now…maybe you should try hitting up a club or two and stop wishing to fly away like a bird…grow up losers.

Life is not perfect. In this world we often have to do things for money. ( hopefully not real prostitution) But.. in terms of characters we must all make sacrifices. Nelly is 38 and she has a kid. Chances are she is thinking about earning some money with her physique while she still can so that she can put back some money for her kid to go to university. If you don’t like her new style, turn off the damn stereo. If you like her new style, then you can see that she is an ADAPTABLE, INTELLIGENT BUSINESS WOMAN WHO IS SELLING VERY ATTRACTIVE MATERIAL TO GUYS (not teeny bopper girls like back in the late 90′s and 00&2001. Hey, c´mon, give the girl a chance, she´s trying a different style and its kinda risky but I guess she´s smart enough to rectify if its necessary.I loved her past stuff and i like her latest endeavours. She´s gorgeous, maybe she don´t know how to dance but still gorgeous. Maybe this step was right or maybe not but who knows? And definetely it´s not a matter of “losers” as someone said. Tho perhaps she has to pay less attention to those americans!!!!

I’m extremely disappointed in the change for Nelly.
What happend to songs like “Turn off the light”? or “I’m like a bird”?
She’s thrown away her feminist values for songs called “Promiscuous.”
Because this style of music and our culture of over sexualised, submissive females is so popular in our culture, it’s obvious this is a sell out. How can one move from two such styles like this? To sell more albums. Of course.
Obviously, This is NOT to bring in the money to “Support her child.” Attention. Shes famous. What more money could she possibly need?
BUT. We do need to take into consideration that she is her own person, who can make her own decisions. And, it is true that it was her decision to make this sudden, unbeleivaly switch. So here is my opinion.
I beleive that this 28 year old mother…should be the one to grow up.

wow. i’m glad so many other people felt confused and sad about nelly’s video and ‘transformation.’ i am especially sad that the music industry has created a market where women have to prostitute themselves just to be marketable. i think nelly was WAY hotter when she was just being her fun, juicy, singing (not fronting like a rapper), soul-searching self. i hope people can get back to the roots of why we make music. i agree with the person who told her to stop listening to the american publicists and producers and go back to her inner voice.
there are enough people who want the real nelly, not the cookie-cutter ho that could be anyone with tiny waist and high cheekbones. come back home nelly! we miss you.

Wow i am really surprise to see all of the negative comments given by some of these jerks here who don’t really know what NF music is all about… When her single “Promiscous” just released – all you dumb ass thought she can’t get that far… Well, look who made a record of having the song Number 1 for 9 fuckin weeks in a row!!!

It’s disgusting how she’s sold out to mainstream hip hop and feeding a sexual image, encouraging girls to be slutty and guys to think we should be sluts. It’s good to experiment with different styles, but it’s so obvious she cares more about the money than the music, emotion, and message that she used to.
And the whole point we are giving negative comments is because we DO know her true style, and we wonder where it has gone. We’ve been with her from the start, not just hopped on the bandwagon ’cause this song has a catchy tune and she’s a better dancer. Her style was much different, much more original, much more from-the-heart than what we hear now – rather, what everyone’s doing now. She’s just transformed into something that will give her money and fame. And the problem is that she’s trying to get so far, by any means possible, that she’s lost sight of herself.
Someday, when she’s gotten all the damn green she wants, I hope she can rediscover the passion in music and disregard the dollar signs.

DOROTHY- calm down far out. Do you realise that selling songs is her career? If she can better her career why wouldn’t she? I’ve been a fan of Nelly’s since I’m Like a Bird, I’ve been there all the way too. You should be happy that she’s doing so well. Of course her old albums were more artistic- Folklore was awesome but it got nowhere. Let her experiment, let her feel more sexy, more adventurous. A lot has changed since she first came out; she’s a mother now, do you know how much that changes you as a person? I’m proud of her.

I already heard that not everybody is happy about Loose, but I think it’s very cool. I love this album!
She has changed, that’s right, but that’s quite normal, I think. Everybody’s changing. And her first album Whoa Nelly! was published in 2002, that’s a long time!
In my opinion, it’s even bad not to change in a way. that would mean you don’t develope.
And we all can hear that Nelly developed. As a person but also as musician.
I also am very proud of her!!!

Damn… Oh well, another good mainstream artist has fallen off. Much like the Black Eyed Peas did when they hired that Fergie, NF has resorted to generic R&B. I admit, I’m pretty anti what’s in the charts, but NF I had alot of respect for. The “Turn off the light” and “Radio” tunes were really, really catchy and didn’t conform with what music was “hot” at the time.
I’d like to see the Nelly Furtado who collaborated with J5 back please!!!
